2. Direct torque control: DTC

Based on the same principles of flux and electromagnetic torque variation in asynchronous machines, direct torque control (DTC) was developed. As with DSC, the magnetic flux concerned is the stator flux, so as to avoid coordinate transformations. In this control, both flux and torque are regulated by hysteresis, so the number of commutations per stator period will be higher, as there will be not only commutations to regulate torque, but also those to regulate flux. As a result, this control is designed for lower power drives than the previous one. As before, an estimate of flux and torque is required.
