8. Conclusion

Shielding's contribution to the protection of an installation depends on its physical properties. The effectiveness of shielding also depends on other factors that are worth mentioning. Protection is the contribution of several components that must be balanced. In fact, there's no point in putting all the effort into a high-immunity shielded cable, even though it is fitted with standard connectors. The choice of shielding must take into account the actual electromagnetic environment in which the protected equipment will have to operate. In some cases, the equipment may be subjected to very high amplitude electromagnetic fields, a factor which can profoundly alter the shielding strategy.
