6. Design methods using modeling

As mentioned and detailed in § 2, all EMC design work must first be based on a preliminary analysis of the various risks to be addressed. To do this, one of the key elements is modeling and analysis using EMC simulation. These are essential tools for evaluating and guaranteeing the electromagnetic performance of electronic equipment during its design. In order to feed the simulation models, component characterization is a crucial step in ensuring a good match between the simulation and actual tests (Figure 33 ).
