3. Application domains and constraints

The following presentation of some of the applications using power electronics is by no means exhaustive, but it does illustrate the importance of developing systems adapted to sometimes highly complex mission profiles. Indeed, the way in which systems are used, in more or less severe environments, leads to varying levels of stress for the different fields of application.

3.1 Automotive

The automotive market is characterized by fierce competition, leading manufacturers to offer vehicles that are increasingly communicative, more comfortable and safer.
