 INTRODUCTION

A cage induction motor converts electrical energy directly into mechanical energy, in a reversible manner. In industry, it is very often accompanied by an integrated gearbox, and now even by an electronic inverter housed in the terminal box. This article deals only with motor construction. All theoretical developments are based on the articles on asynchronous motor operation. The plan followed respects the natural constitution of these machines, bearing in mind that we will limit ourselves to a power range between 100 W and 5 kW, which corresponds to the bulk of industrial applications.
