Magnetic effect rotating machines are clearly the electromechanical converter family that has benefited from the most extensive development, both in terms of the applications concerned (from the micro-motor of a watch to the alternator of a nuclear power plant!), the electromechanical architectures exploited and the associated technological choices. In view of the various solutions available for transforming electrical energy into mechanical energy (motor operation) or, conversely, mechanical energy into electrical energy (generator operation), using magnetic sources interacting within a rotating structure, it is clear that the concept of a "rotating magnetic field" plays a key role.
