1. Perfect coil

A perfect coil is one in which hysteresis, saturation and eddy currents can be neglected. Examples include a coil without an iron core, or a coil made from insulated sheet metal with a linear magnetic characteristic b (h).

In this dossier, we'll be using the symbols of the French (AFNOR) and international (IEC) standards, i.e. B for magnetic induction and H for magnetic field. However, in physics, the most commonly used vocabulary is B for the magnetic field vector and H for the magnetic induction...
