3.1 Equations. Equivalent diagram

The study of a saturable iron-core coil is tricky because of the magnetic circuit, its non-linearities and the interweaving of various phenomena. Calculation, dimensioning and behavior analysis are therefore often carried out by linearizing the problem (see equivalent diagram in figure 17 ).

The iron-core coil can be studied in greater detail by simulating its behavior. Thanks to the computing power of computers, simplifying hypotheses can be reduced and all phenomena taken into account more accurately.
