Alternating current meters - Electromechanical meters

Everywhere except France, electromechanical AC meters are in widespread use, and every year millions of active energy meters, or watt-hour meters, are manufactured worldwide.

These meters are of the induction type, i.e. they are small induction motors with a solid rotor in the shape of a disc.
