Once the frequency and the active and reactive powers required to heat the load placed in the inductor have been defined, the generator capable of supplying these electrical quantities to the inductor must be installed. The impedance at the generator terminals must be correctly matched to that of the generator.

In what follows, we'll always assume that the electrical system is sinusoidal alternating.
