1. Principle and specific features

Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of an induction heating system. From the mains supply (50 Hz), you'll find a converter to create the electrical currents at the required frequency, an adapter to adjust the voltages, and an inductor to generate the electromagnetic field in which the load to be heated is placed.

  • A few orders of magnitude on induction heating help to better understand its specific features.

    • Frequencies

      It is usual to distinguish between the following frequency ranges:

      • low frequency: from 50 Hz to 1,000 Hz ;

      • medium frequency: 1,000 Hz to 35 kHz ;
