10. Conclusion

In its "emergency" applications, the genset offers advantages linked to :

  • a wide range of power ;

  • speed of implementation;

  • its ability to operate for long periods.

These advantages put it far ahead of all other alternative sources. So it's safe to say that the genset is still a product of the future, especially as diesel engine performance is constantly improving in the areas of efficiency, reliability and pollution.
