2. Anchoring devices

Anchors are made either with compressed, drawn or crimped sleeves, operating on the same principle as junction sleeves and featuring a bolt connection area (figure 2 ), or with anchor clamps in which the conductor is held over a long length by clamping. This technique avoids cutting the conductor at the anchor point. However, due to the very principle of the clamp, only around 90% of the breaking load of a homogeneous cable can be achieved, and only 80% of the breaking load of a cable with a steel core, the latter value decreasing as the percentage of steel in the conductor increases.
