2. Fault finding procedure

Before working on a cable, the following steps must be carried out in accordance with current French regulations:

  • Following the activation of a protection device, the service responsible for operating the network concerned must isolate the section of cable suspected of being faulty.

  • This section of the network must be locked out (UTE C18-510 or CPP Personnel Prescription Log) and tagged by a lockout/tagging officer on behalf of a test officer, with the issuance of a lockout and tagging notice. This test officer must be an electrician authorized by their employer and trained in fault-finding techniques; therefore, all communications between the test officer and any operating personnel (EDF General Operating Code) shall be made solely by collated messages.
