2. Fault finding procedure
Before working on a cable, the following steps must be carried out in accordance with current French regulations:
Following the activation of a protection device, the service responsible for operating the network concerned must isolate the section of cable suspected of being faulty.
This section of the network must be locked out (UTE C18-510 or CPP Personnel Prescription Log) and tagged by a lockout/tagging officer on behalf of a test officer, with the issuance of a lockout and tagging notice. This test officer must be an electrician authorized by their employer and trained in fault-finding techniques; therefore, all communications between the test officer and any operating personnel (EDF General Operating Code) shall be made solely by collated messages.
