1. General information

1.1 Power cables

They can be classified according to various criteria.

By voltage level: apart from the special cases of oil- or gas-filled cables in high voltage, it should be noted that all paper- or synthetic-insulated cables, regardless of their voltage levels, will benefit from the same fault pre-location and location methods.

By network type: low-voltage tree networks, with or without branch circuits, double branch circuits in high-voltage systems, or strictly without branch circuits in medium-voltage systems, the structure of the networks will only determine the choice of certain pre-location methods due to the efficiency/safety ratio.
