3. Fault identification

This determination involves simple methods for measuring insulation resistance and conductor continuity, as well as voltage withstand tests.

It is important to complete this investigation thoroughly before deciding on a method, even if the facts already known seem clear. "All too often, we have seen defect investigations aborted or severely delayed due to haste and misplaced obstinacy."

3.1 Insulation resistance measurement

The apparent resistance between each phase conductor and the grounded shield or neutral conductor, or between two phase conductors, is determined.
