5. Fuse protection
5.1 Area of use
Fuse technology is relatively simple, but there are a number of disadvantages to their use, which we will come back to later:
a limited voltage range (MV and LV) ;
an intrinsic fragility and sometimes complex support systems;
sometimes delicate coordination between levels of protection;
the need for replacement after operation ;
risk of overvoltage due to the LdI/dt effect, with L equal to the source circuit inductance.
