1. Structure of electricity consumption

In industrial countries, around two-thirds of total electrical energy consumption is absorbed by motive power applications.

This motive power is harnessed by a multitude of low- and medium-power motors. Statistics show that almost all the motors in service in these countries (around 99.9%) have a power rating of less than 200 kW, and that the vast majority in this category have a power rating of less than 10 kW.

It should be noted, however, that if we consider overall electricity consumption in motor form, the effect of motor size counterbalances the effect of number.
