5. Natural environments
One of the most widespread natural phenomena capable of generating electromagnetic activity is lightning. This phenomenon, which results from natural activity in our environment, is the source of radiation generated by electrical discharges in the atmosphere, between clouds and/or between clouds and the ground. Given the very short duration of electrical discharge phenomena, the resulting electromagnetic environments are themselves transient in nature. The electromagnetic radiation thus generated is both impulsive and intense. It is potentially detectable several tens of kilometers from its point of discharge. Its propagation is isotropic.
