6.1 Need for qualification
The qualification of a component, system equipment, or even an installation is an important step that allows a decision to be made on compliance with specific initial requirements, confirming performance according to development criteria.
It is therefore an almost existential step in product development.
When qualifying, it is generally natural to seek to minimize the risk of failure in order to obtain a compliant status at the end of testing. Taking risks with the definition of specimens means taking risks with the measurement results by increasing variability.
