7. Conclusion

In addition to using RADARs to probe the velocity or position of targets (fluid level, projectile velocity), this article has presented the rules for designing cooperative targets in which various properties of the RADAR cross section translate a physical quantity. Passive cooperative targets provide an original solution for complex environments where there is no alternative (high temperature, sensor inaccessible after installation – tires, concrete, underground – or rotating/moving). Their complex deployment, in view of the RADAR link which requires the control of the link balance between the interrogation electronics and the sensor, calls for a detailed understanding of the complete measurement chain.
