2. Cooperative target architecture

2.1 Cooperative target : the surface acoustic wave (SAW) transducer

Strategies for differentiating the sensor response from the electromagnetic environment fundamentally condition the design of a passive RF component used as a cooperative target (figure  2 ). Reflective structures around the RADAR will generally have a much larger effective cross-section than that of the sensor : we therefore need to tune the time parameter to separate the sensor response from that of the environment also called clutter.
