Process leading to EMC testing of a system

The EMC qualification of a system comes at the end of the development process. Before this phase can be reached, a number of milestones must be passed between the establishment of system specifications, analysis/calculation work, the translation of constraints into products, product development, qualification and, finally, final system qualification.

EMC qualification means EMC specifications. These specifications are drawn up to ensure that electronic equipment can coexist properly once it has been installed in the system, and also to define its resistance to electromagnetic environments external to the system, such as lightning or strong fields, for example.
