More recent standardization work on specifying QoS aims to establish the relationship between end-to-end QoS classes and the QoS mechanisms available in NGNs. As well as the need to share performance parameters in the communication network, such as delay, errors, etc.
3.1 ITU specifications

The ITU Y.1540 recommendation defines the parameters that will be used to transfer IP packets across an interface. It also defines the events observed and the set of parameters that characterize network performance. It distinguishes five types of metrics:
