4. HTML and XML languages

HTML is the language initially used on the Web to produce hypertext documents. Documents produced in this way can be viewed and/or heard using browsers such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. HTML is a class of SGML documents [H 7 138] used to describe hypertextual documents.
