 INTRODUCTION

This article, which aims to introduce the basics of SysML notation, is the first in a series of four devoted to modeling. It is followed by a presentation of the basics of UML notation, then a description of a modeling method using SysML and UML, and we end the series with a case study.

In this first section, you'll find an introduction to the basics of SysML notation, which you'll need to start modeling to specify and design systems. SysML notation, and even more so UML, are very comprehensive and difficult to master; however, a selected subset is more than sufficient to meet the needs of most people.

Today, more and more projects are embarking on the adventure of systems design and engineering through MBSE and IDM. And, in this context, modeling (and therefore SysML and UML) is becoming a predominant discipline that needs to be mastered.
