2. Digital accessibility
Ignorance or neglect of the needs of people with disabilities has led to a number of abuses in the way the digital world is conceived.
It's not just about websites, even though we're lagging far behind in this area: despite the first regulations dating back to 2005 in France, it's estimated that only 4% to 10% of French websites, whether for private companies or public services, are accessible to all types of population and in all circumstances. And the same observation could be made all over the world: the Web is, for the most part, inaccessible to people with disabilities. This has direct consequences in terms of exclusion and discrimination, for all acts of daily life, as well as participation in society.
The gap can be seen in all areas of digital technology: equipment (computers, nomadic devices, virtual reality headsets, interactive...
