2. A generic, integrated modeling framework

The approach presented is a multi-view method for the design of mission-critical interactive systems that proposes model-based design techniques with the aim of taking into account and ensuring compatibility between human and system behaviors. The general idea is to bring together, in a unified framework, two complementary aspects for designing usable and reliable interactive systems:

  • description of the goals and tasks the user needs to accomplish with the system, within a user-centered design framework;

  • formal system description (including interactive and non-interactive parts of the system).

A key aspect of the approach is to promote consistency between these perspectives. Indeed, task modeling and system modeling are often carried out by experts from different disciplines....
