3. Determining the dissolution time of solid particles

The aim is to establish a mathematical model for determining the dissolution time of solid particles held in suspension in a stirred tank operating in batch mode.

3.1 Assumptions

A few assumptions are necessary:

  • the thermal effects of dissolution are negligible;

  • the volume of the solution does not vary appreciably during the dissolving time;

  • the transfer resistance is located in the liquid film surrounding the solid particle;

  • the material transfer coefficient k L/S is considered constant during dissolution;

  • solid particles are spherical...
