2. Benchtop NMR spectrometers

The non-invasive nature of NMR detection is a considerable asset for on-line reaction monitoring compared with liquid or gas chromatography, particularly for the detection of highly reactive compounds likely to react with the immobilized phase of chromatographic columns. NMR spectroscopy has been used for many years for on-line monitoring of chemical reactions, thanks to its ability to provide valuable structural information as well as accurate and precise quantitative data. High-field (HC) NMR has long been the preferred tool, through the use of dedicated NMR probes for flow analysis.
