7. Conclusion

On-line analysis of continuous flow processes enables the content of a reaction mixture to be monitored very quickly, without the need for specific manipulations or reaction processing. The information gathered can be used to assess the efficiency of a reaction in near-real time and, if necessary, to adapt operating conditions to achieve the set objective. Low-field NMR using a benchtop spectrometer is an emerging tool that represents one of the most promising on-line analysis technologies. The wealth of structural information that can be obtained in a matter of seconds, combined with the great flexibility of NMR sequences, is unrivalled among the analytical tools available to molecular chemists. In addition, BC NMR spectrometers enjoy a number of advantages over high-field spectrometers, as they can be placed in a fume hood, do not require cryogenic fluids, and can operate without deuterated...
