2. Construction of packed columns
The operation of a packing bed depends fundamentally on :
liquid and gas distribution ;
the choice of a nominal packing size compatible with the internal diameter of the column;
the care taken in placing and maintaining the load.
2.1 Packing support and gas phase distribution
Each packing bed is supported by a distribution grid system (figure 4 ).
