6. Upholstery selection criteria

6.1 Material

The choice of material depends mainly on its behavior in the presence of gas and liquid under operating conditions. In all cases, corrosion problems must be considered. For plastics, it is also necessary to check mechanical resistance at service temperature (see Thermoplastic materials: monographs and Thermosetting materials: monographs in the Plastics and Composites treatise).
