 INTRODUCTION

This document deals with the modeling of a number of gravity devices (sluices, dense liquids, jigs and spirals). For all devices, modelling enables us to identify the parameters that influence recovery, and to make a more detailed analysis than would be possible if modelling remained purely qualitative. What's more, in the case of the sluice, it makes it possible to analyze separation efficiency at site level, based on simple direct measurements of the masses of product deposited, or to judge whether or not to lengthen the device or modify the slope to optimize recovery.

Industrial examples show how equipment can be combined in certain operations to maximize the value of a particular ore.

The complete study of the subject is the subject of several booklets which are not independent and to which it will be useful to refer:

  • - Gravity concentration. Principles ;

  • - Gravity concentration. Different technologies;

  • [J 3 192] - Gravity concentration. Modelling and selection criteria ;

  • - Concentration by gravity. "For more information.
