 INTRODUCTION

Many physical and/or chemical phenomena take place within natural or synthetic porous solid media. The morphology of these media is not necessarily structured, and the analysis of interactions requires a simplification of the texture. The aim of this study is to present to the reader, at the level of a solid particle, the global analysis of an interaction taking place within the particle in one of the three following cases:

  • the interaction is a physical adsorption (file ) ;

  • interaction is a catalytic chemical reaction (file ) ;

  • interaction is a consumable chemical reaction (file ).

For each interaction, the initial global analysis will correspond to a case where the influence of certain observable elementary processes is assumed to be negligible. When this latter assumption is not verified, we will give its impact on the interaction. Finally, for each of the three interactions, we will present a simplified case of global analysis, enabling the reader to quantify the impact of elementary transfer processes on the chemical or physical interaction.The global analysis of a physical and/or chemical interaction within a porous particle cannot be carried out without prior knowledge of the particle's morphology and of the physico-chemical characteristics of matter and heat transfer to be associated with the interactions.The aim of this dossier is to provide an overview of the physical and chemical interactions within a porous particle. is to recall, on the one hand, the simplistic morphology models with associated transfer parameters and, on the other, the thermodynamic and kinetic data specific to each of the three types of interactions examined successively in the following files.

The concepts presented in these dossiers can be found in numerous books in English and French. The bibliography lists the main English-language [12] [13] [17] and French-language [18] [19] works on which the presentations are based.
