2. Mixing in a stirred tank
In manufacturing processes, all industries use the unitary operation of agitation-mixing, the aim of which is always to achieve uniformity of concentration or temperature. This homogenization is directly linked to the nature of the flows generated within the medium by the agitation method chosen. The quality of a mixture is therefore always the result of interactions between the rheological properties of the medium, the geometry of the agitator and the conditions under which it is used.
Mixing is performed on two scales: macro- and micromixing.
The origin of macromixing is the convective flow diagram.
