 INTRODUCTION

Molten salts can be defined as liquid media, formally comprising at least one type of anion and one type of cation, and containing no molecular solvent, whether aqueous or organic.

In this article, we have confined ourselves to the study of salts of interest to electrochemists, i.e. molten salts with a wide range of electrochemical stability, either on the anodic or cathodic side, or both, and with high electrical conductivity. These include alkali halides and their mixtures, which are widely used in industry, as well as a large number of other salts, often containing an alkali cation.

The presentation of the electrochemical constants taken into account is divided into two sets: data relating to molten electrolytes, and data relating to interfaces between electrodes and molten electrolytes.
