12. Conclusion

The following examples show just how powerful Bridgman's method is for calculating derivatives of thermodynamic quantities, when combined with Lee-Kesler-Wu tables. With these tools, the engineer can tackle any problem, not only for the four hundred or so pure bodies for which the value of the acentric factor is known, but also for those for which the acentric factor can be estimated using Edminster's formula (1) . Indeed, even when the accuracy of this determination of ω is not very good, the solution to the problem remains very acceptable to the engineer as long as ω is less than 0.3.
