2. Perfect gases and their mixtures

Real fluids are usually characterized in relation to the perfect gas (in this article, perfect is used as in thermodynamics, not as in fluid mechanics, to designate the absence of viscosity).

The perfect gas is described by a very simple equation of state translating the asymptotic behavior of real gases at low pressure:
