2. LRAN method
The LRAN method uses elastic scattering without wavelength change, after scattering by particles (known as "Mie" scattering) and molecules and atoms (known as "Rayleigh" scattering). It is the simplest of the lidar methods, and the most affordable in terms of instrument set-up and measurement processing.
