5. Geotechnical characteristics

5.1 Brief definitions

  • Standards NF EN 1097-1 and NF EN 1097-2 correspond to tests to determine the mechanical and physical characteristics of aggregates.

    • Standard NF EN 1097-1 (November 1996) constitutes Part 1: Determination of wear resistance (micro-Deval test).

      As a rule, the aggregate sample is tested in the presence of water, but the test can also be carried out dry.

      The test consists in measuring the wear produced under defined conditions by the reciprocal friction of aggregates in a rotating cylinder with an abrasive load.
