1. Main geotechnical parameters measured

Depending on the type of structure to be built and the geotechnical problems of the site, certain parameters need to be monitored during construction and throughout its operational life.

These parameters can be classified into four main categories:

• mechanical ;

• hydraulics ;

• geometrical ;

• environmental.

However, many of these parameters are intimately linked: a variation in stress (mechanical parameter) will generate a variation in deformation (geometric parameter), for example.
