7. Conclusion

Energy structures are now beginning to be considered as a common solution to the heating and cooling needs of buildings. Nevertheless, their design remains a complex exercise in terms of both thermal and mechanical aspects.

This article summarizes the main issues relating to these design aspects. The question of energy efficiency has been addressed rather briefly, as it is undoubtedly the one that still raises the most questions. The study of heat transfer at different scales between the heat transfer fluid, the thermal geostructures and the surrounding soil remains a topical issue, and many research and development projects could soon be launched to answer the many outstanding questions.
