2.1 Crystallographic structure and related properties
Molybdenum is the thirty-sixth element in order of abundance in the earth's crust. A transition element between chromium and tungsten, it is the second element in the sixth group of the Periodic Table of the Elements (VI A) and has two incomplete outer electron layers. Its crystallographic lattice is cubic-centered and the corresponding parameter is 0.31472 nm at 25 C. Its density is 10.22 g/cm 3 .
