The electrical and electronics industries are major consumers of molybdenum. Wires, ribbons and cups made of molybdenum, molybdenum-lanthanum and molybdenum-yttrium are used in lighting; Mo-Y is used to seal quartz glass for discharge and halogen lamps, for example.
