4. Definition of steel products

Standard NF EN 10079 defines steel products according to their shape, dimensions, appearance and surface finish.

Although products have generally been defined without prejudging their possible uses or manufacturing processes, it has sometimes been necessary to call on these criteria.

An appendix to the standard gives details of the definition methods used by the Statistical Office of the European Communities and by the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System.
