3. Steel designation rules

  • European standard NF EN 10027

    The European standard EN 10027 on the steel designation system has replaced the various corresponding national standards. In France, NF A 02-005 has been replaced by NF EN 10027 since 1992.

    This standard consists of two parts:

    • NF EN 10027-1 : symbolic designation ;

    • NF EN 10027-2: numerical designation.

    Here we summarize the main provisions of standard NF EN 10027 concerning unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
