4.1 Declaration procedure

Foundries subject to declaration (article L. 512-8 of the Environment Code) are those that do not present a serious danger or inconvenience for the interests referred to in article L. 511-1.

• Principles of the declaration system

  The principles associated with the ICPE declaration system are as follows:

  • the operator designs and operates the foundry under his own responsibility, in compliance with the applicable general regulations defined by ministerial (or prefectoral) decrees;

  • certain installations, marked "DC" in the nomenclature, are subject to periodic inspections by approved bodies;
