4. Gaseous treatment

4.1 Gas cementation and carbonitriding (at atmospheric pressure)

The treatment is carried out in a sealed furnace in which a controlled atmosphere is maintained at slight overpressure, consisting of a carrier gas to which is added, if necessary, a carbon enrichment gas and, in addition, nitrogen in the case of carbonitriding, to achieve the desired carbon potential.
