3. Modeling the classic steel production chain

Given the above-mentioned objective, the simplified computer models should enable us to carry out the material and energy inventory for a conventional integrated steel plant. We have therefore developed models in an environmental context, i.e. to determine the pollutants emitted by each plant. In addition, these models are sensitive to variations in the milling and recycling of the various products, to ensure the quality of the products required by the downstream subsystems.

Sensitivity tests carried out for various parameters (sulfur and nitrogen content of fuels, volatile matter content, etc.) have shown that the models are "flexible", i.e. they allow certain input data to be varied while respecting the imposed parameters.
